Job Description: EHS Global is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to support EHS operations and client secondments. The Senior Environmental Advisor will drive continuous improvement, promote the highest standards of environmental stewardship, and assist EHS Global in upholding its exemplary environmental reputation with key stakeholders. The role also includes supporting the implementation of EHS Global's environmental strategy and HSSE Policy obligations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide environmental support to EHS Global and client operations.
- Manage permits, including application compilation, submission, and associated reporting.
- Engage with regulatory and offshore stakeholders. Support the awareness and implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies.
- Assist client HSE management in incident and accident investigations using appropriate investigation processes.
- Maintain Environmental Management System (EMS) compliance requirements, including conducting audits, and perform ISO14001 audits while developing and preparing management systems and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
- Conduct EIA to evaluate the potential environmental effects of proposed projects, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met and promoting sustainable practices.
- Conduct Noise Modelling using Soundplan software to assess and mitigate noise pollution impacts, including designing noise barriers and optimising site layouts.
- Performing Air Pollution Modelling using AERMOD or CALPUFF to evaluate and manage air quality impacts, developing and recommending measures to reduce emissions and ensure compliance with standards.
- Develop detailed designs and specifications for hydraulic systems, including pipelines, valves, and control structures, based on fluid mechanics principles.
- Utilise hydraulic modelling software (e.g., Water GEMS, EPANET, SWMM) to simulate water flow, pressure distribution, and sediment transport, identifying and implementing design improvements.
- Design drainage systems, including stormwater collection networks, conveyance channels, culverts, and retention/detention basins, applying hydraulic principles.
- Create stormwater management systems to control runoff and reduce flood and erosion risks, incorporating best management practices (BMPs) like green infrastructure.
- Implement water resource management strategies, such as reservoir operation plans, flood control measures, and irrigation systems, to optimise water utilisation and mitigate drought and flood risks.
- Oversee drainage engineering projects from concept to completion, managing scope, budget, schedule, resources, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Requirements:
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills with the ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
- Ability to manage and perform simple and complex analysis, design, and detailing of all types of wet infrastructure systems.
- Ability to prepare drawings, reports, calculations, and technical design documents.
- Proficiency with UK and international environmental codes and standards.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in conducting assessments and evaluations of existing wet infrastructure systems and waste management systems.
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge in the energy transition is desirable.
- Established competence in permit management - application compilation, submission, and associated reporting.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to collate and interpret environmental performance data.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- On-site practical knowledge and experience (onshore and offshore, and in the asset lifecycle).
- Effective and competent user of the MS Office Suite.
- High-level communication skills in both written and spoken formats.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree in Environmental Civil Engineering (UK) is preferred.
- Specific experience with air pollution modelling software such as AERMOD and CALPUFF, and noise modelling software such as Soundplan, to effectively assess and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Specific experience in water distribution networks design; wastewater collection networks; hydraulics, hydrology; and stormwater drainage networks design.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience with strong technical skills and core expertise in designing and detailing wet infrastructure systems.
- Overseas experience in marine civil engineering and the oil and gas industry is an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Previous experience in a technical environmental advisory role with experience in projects/contracts in Oil & Gas or other industries.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in English and Arabic.
- Professional membership with IEMA or another environmental body.
- Trained and competent Auditor.
